The Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB) is the primary regional association in biochemistry to focus on the promotion and development of this area of science and technology in the Asian and Oceanian regions. FAOBMB is one of four regional groupings of the International Union for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). The other three regional groupings are:
Since its founding in 1972, FAOBMB has developed steadily, playing an important catalytic role in stimulating life sciences, technology transfer and entrepreneurship.
FAOBMB works closely with its constituent members (national societies in the region) and IUBMB to advance research, teaching and applications of biochemistry and molecular biology.

The Malaysian Society for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (MSBMB) was established in 1974 as a professional body representing biochemists and molecular biologists in Malaysia. The Society aims to be a platform for Malaysian scientists to network and interact locally and internationally via a variety of activities such as conferences, seminars, workshops, special lectures and focus group meetings on matters related to biochemistry and molecular biology. At present, the MSBMB has over 350 active members nationwide.
The MSBMB is an adhering body to the Federation of Asian and Oceanian Biochemists and Molecular Biologists (FAOBMB) and The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB). The MSBMB is the sole recognised country representative in these 2 organisations.
