WELCOME MESSAGE FROM FAOBMB 2027 ORGANISING CHAIR
Organising Chair, FAOBMB 2027
It is a pleasure and honor for the Malaysian Society for Biochemistry & Molecular Biology (MSBMB) to host the upcoming 18th FAOBMB Congress from 24th - 27th August 2027 in our capital city of Kuala Lumpur.
We look forward to bringing you an engaging, thought-provoking and stimulating Congress that will showcase ground-breaking science, innovative methods and impactful solutions that will benefit our planet, her people and the environment. Our symposia topics ‘Molecules of Life, Networks and Systems, Molecular Basis of Health & Disease, Biochemistry in a Sustainable Economy, Bio-Intelligence and Education, Career and Community’ aims to capture the complexity of interactions of life from fundamental theories to applications that stimulate all forms of human activity. The focus on human health and planetary well-being reflects the concerns we all share today on how we can make life better and more sustainable. The Congress will feature scientific lectures, rapid oral sessions, posters, forum discussions, technical panel sharings, industry showcases and many other opportunities for congress participants to engage and network.
The ever-popular Young Scientist Programme (YSP) will precede the main congress, to be held from 21st – 23rd August 2027 in the city of Subang Jaya hosted by Sunway University with satellite events held at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. We are sure that our young scientists will enjoy the scientific programme and social opportunities offered by our hosts.
Kuala Lumpur is a captivating blend of modernity and traditional culture. A bustling city of over 2 million people, KL offers a striking skyline with skyscrapers like the Petronas Twin Towers, Merdeka 118 and the Exchange 106 set amidst more traditional styled architecture with a myriad of temples, mosques and churches sprinkled throughout and bustling street level markets like Petaling Street and Jalan Alor. Visitors will find almost any suitable activity ranging from shopping, street food hunting, roof-top bars, relaxing nightlife to museums, parks, adventure sports, hiking, trekking and much much more. Connections from the main airports of KLIA and KLIA2 are affordable and getting around within KL is relatively easy with an integrated rail network and super-easy ride hailing services like Grab. English is spoken widely so communication is never a problem.
On behalf of the Organising Committee, I warmly welcome all scientists and students from around the world to the 18th FAOBMB Congress in Kuala Lumpur, 24th – 27th August 2027.
We hope you will mark your calendar to make a date with us.
‘Semoga kita bertemu’! which means ‘Hope to see you’ in Bahasa Malaysia.
